PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE



Definition

Present Continuous tense is a verb tense which is used for:

1.  Describe action or event are happening now or in the present or the action is not finished or may continue into the future.

   I am reading.

   We are studying.

2.  To describe an action or event in the future, which has already been planned or prepared.

   We’re going on holiday tomorrow.

   I’m meeting Susi tonight.

   We are studying English, next Monday.

Social Function

Present Continuous Tense is used to describe actions, events are happening now or in the present or the action is not finished or may continue into the future.

Language Feature

The sentences in this tense often use present participle or Verb-ing.

Example 

A : What are you doing?

B : I am studying.

A : What she is doing?

B : She is writing.
